Week 13
Day 85
Fellowship
Read Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

One central truth that has kept the kingdom of God moving throughout the world and has regularly resurfaced in the 2000 year history of the Church is that ALL of us can both learn and teach each other the precepts of Scripture. Though often a “professional” class arises in the ranks of Christendom to fulfill the role “teacher,” God’s purpose is never for a “clergy” to monopolize the handling of the Scriptures in the lives of Christ’s followers. Instead, Paul outlines a VERY DIFFERENT pattern for the Scriptures to be sown into the lives of Christians (cf. Romans 15:14).

Describe an activity or meeting format that a group of Christians could do together that would fulfill the intent of the verse above.

What is the difference between “teach” and “admonish” (you might use www.biblehub.com as a starting point)?

What role should music have in our fellowship? Does this verse give any clear guidelines as to how music should be used?

Memory Verses

Primary Verse

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

Hebrews 3:13
Secondary Verse

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

John 13:34-35
