Week 25
Day 171
Obedience to Christ

6, 8, 10, 14 when you’re in the fog. Now for 10 - this is an obvious one that takes us right back to our first few weeks of study.

1 Corinthians 10:31

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Corinth was a multi-cultural church with Jews (no pork, kosher), Greeks (lot of strange foods from distant lands), etc. (Now think of the bar room scene in the first Star Wars movie.) How would you have been able to have a potluck supper at the Corinthian church? Is eating pork wrong? Is mixing milk and blood morally wrong as a drink? Can a believer in good conscience really eat “Devil’s Food Cake”? (I made that last one up ;-) )

Read 1 Corinthians 10 in your Bible to get the context of verse 31. Write down the principle that Paul was communicating:

Can you think of anything in our church that this principle should be applied to?

Memory Verses

Primary Verse

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.

1 Corinthians 6:12
Secondary Verse

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall. But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

Romans 14:21, 23
