Week 1
Day 3
Relationship With God
Read 1 Timothy 2:5, Matthew 28:20

1 Timothy 2:5

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 28:20

“… And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Washington D.C. is full of lobbyists. They are people whose sole job in life is to connect ordinary people and businesses with the powers inside our government. They tend to be “compromised,” since they promise “access for money,” but oftentimes, it is the only way individuals can get the attention of the government. Regardless of your thoughts on lobbyists, their FUNCTION is very clear – connecting those “outside” to those “inside” government.

We see a similar dimension to our relationship with Christ. His last promise before He left this earth was to be with us always. Then, at the very same time, He also represents us before the God of the universe as our advocate. Talk about “access”!!! Jesus even teaches us how to interact with God, by calling Him Father! (Matthew 6:9,10 “… Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come…”) Unlike Washington lobbyists though, our relationship with God THROUGH Christ is uncompromised, pure, perfect, and totally paid for by the finished work of Christ on the cross.

Spend the next few minutes thanking the Father for providing you with this access to Him, and write down some thoughts regarding having your own personal Advocate (Jesus) who is always with you!

Memory Verses

Primary Verse

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

John 17:3
Secondary Verse

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ…

Philippians 3:7-8
