Week 6
Day 38
Study The Word
(Practice-Read Psalm 19:1-4)

Psalm 19:1-4

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.”

I overheard someone at a local coffee shop using this verse to justify reading their horoscope and visiting a local astrologer. “God wants us to consult the stars. Even the Bible says that ‘The heavens declare…’”

Read ALL of Psalm 19. What did the Psalmist mean when he wrote these words?

Is there any indication in the historical context of David’s life that he studied or prescribed to astrology or horoscopes?

Is there any place in Scripture prior to David’s writing that might indicate that astrology might be theologically dangerous or sinful?

What DO the heavens declare to us about God?

Memory Verses

Primary Verse

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15
Secondary Verse

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
